THE LABORATORIES IN THE DEPARTMENT
FLUID MECHANICS LAB
This lab is well equipped with experienced setups like to measure flow through pipes, venturimeter, orifice meter, notch, weirs etc. Verification of Bernoulli’s theorem, momentum equation, Reynolds principle, to test stability of floating body, to measure frictional losses of flowing fluid.
THERMAL ENGINEERING LAB
This lab has facility for trial on 2 stroke & 4 stroke petrol engine, trial on 2 stroke and 4 stroke diesel engine, multi cylinder 4 stroke petrol engine, twin cylinder reciprocating air compressor cooling tower etc. Also it has useful instruments like Bomb calorimeter, smoke meter, and exhaust gas analyzer.
HEAT TRANSFER LAB
It is well equipped lab to measure various parameters in Heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation. It has the various experimental setup to measure thermal conductivity of metal rod & gases to measure rate of heat transfer through natural and forced convection, to measure emissivity of real body, to verify Steffen – Boltzman law etc.
ELEMENTS OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING LAB
This lab has well illustrative model charts of 2 stroke & 4 stroke engines, various boilers like Babcock & Wilcox, Lamont Cochran, Locomotive, etc. Various boilers mounting & accessories. Also it includes the models and charts of different mechanical elements like clutches, breaks, belt drives, gear drives, chain drives etc.
METROLOGY AND QUALITY CONTROL LAB
It is well equipped with different precision instrument like vernier caliper micrometer, sine bar, slip gauges, bevel protractor, screw micrometer, depth gauges etc. To measure various linear and angular parameters. It includes various types of mechanical and optical instruments like angle Decker, Auto collimator, Optical Flat, Dial gauges limit gauges & snap gauges etc.
MECHANICAL VIBRATION LABS
This lab equipped with the various instruments like critical speed measurements, single degree of freedom system, linear & torsional vibration, bifilar-trifilar suspension etc:
REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING LAB
This lab is equipped with all the test rigs, models charts related to RAC. Also it has trial on domestic refrigerator, air conditioner, ice plant, water cooler, heat pump combined with refrigerator. Such instruments are added to improve the effectiveness of subject & Practicals of RAC.
CAD LAB
This Lab is equipped with the latest configuration of the computers, printers scanner etc. student are trained on latest CAD packages like AUTO CAD 2000, Ideas 9.0 Solid edge etc. Extra time is given to final year students to develop new designs as part of their project.
CAM LAB
This lab is equipped with CNC Lathe trainer and CNC milling trainer. Students are trained on this machine so as to prepare job with the help of computers aid, which save the time and make the work efficient with greater accuracy.
MATERIAL TESTING LAB
This Lab is well equipped with Brinell hardness tester, Izod, charpy, Impact tester, universal testing Machine, Rockwell hardness tester etc. Poldi hardness tester etc. that are suitable to find toughness, stress, strain, creep, etc. It is useful for performing all the Practicals of engineering metallurgy to study the micro-structures of different engineering material for various heat treatments by using metallurgical microscopes.
